The great track star, Jesse Owens, stated that exact phrase, “one chance is all you need” as he embarked on making Olympic Games history in Track & Field.
His words ring true even today. How many of us get an incredible opportunity, but due to other responsibilities, other obligations, other priorities, etc., just simply miss out because we did not make the effort to take advantage of it. Many believe that success is gained only through preparation. Being prepared provides the “flexibility” to have an opportunity present itself at any time, and having the ability to take advantage of that “good fortune.” The world is full of people that wish for that one big break or “business lead” that will bring them long term success or financial security. The truth is that many of those same people have had those opportunities in the past, but were not “ready” to take advantage of them.
Many times “opportunity” is NOT wrapped up in a big bow with nice wrapping paper or comes to us on a shiny silver platter. No, “opportunity” can be very straightforward and easy to see, or it can be “hinted at” within a conversation, a discussion, a follow up call, an email, etc. where there might be some subtleties that need to be interpreted because they are simply implied. Those that can learn the skill of interpreting those types of situations in a quick, concise manner will succeed because they will only “need one chance” as they go through life.
Be prepared, be ready, and make sure you take advantage of the chances you get in life!
That’s the bottomline…
“Change…Part Nature…Part Opportunity”
